Sitting atop 3 rocky spurs, this historic castle provides stupendous views of the unique stone towers of the nearby UNESCO Geopark.
Founded in the 13th century by the Counts of Waldstein, Valdstejn Castle eventually fell into the hands of the local robber barons before being abandoned. In the 17th century, the derelict castle was bought back by its founding family and revitalized. Today, visitors can bridge the 3 rock spurs to see different elements of the castle complex, from the medieval ruins to the Baroque church. For many however, the setting steals the show as the castle grants stupendous views into the nearby nature park.
