Estonia
Estonia’s largest military museum offers visitors a unique, hands-on look at the past 100 years of Estonia’s military history.
Founded on the initiative of the local border guards, the Valga Military Park museum showcases a variety of military hardware, ranging from artillery and vehicles, to the largest collection of firearms in the country. Visitors can also see the evolution of military uniforms in the country, including when it was under Nazi and Soviet rule, or learn about the activities of the various security branches in Estonia and Latvia. What sets this park apart is that it hosts special exhibitions throughout the year, and allows visitors to join a tour (only in Estonian) to learn more about Estonia’s military history, and then enjoy a shot of moonshine and a sausage in the bunker of the country’s fabled Forest Brothers.
