Mexico
Escape the capital buzz at this charming lakeside town, renowned for its mountain views and historic architecture.
You can’t help but be won over by the charm and beauty of the lakeside Valle de Bravo. The view from the municipal harbor across the lake to the wooded hills on the far shore is to die for. It’s no wonder that it is classed as one of Mexico’s “Magical Towns”. A cliff the looms above the town, providing a fantastic panorama. On the cobbled streets below, the main plaza is the best place to soak in Valle de Bravo's old-world atmosphere. The plaza features the impressive 17th century Parish of Saint Francis of Asisi, whose main bell was cast during the Mexican Revolution. The Jardín Central next door often has live music, and is a great place to gab some street food. Tucked away nearby, the charming Temple of Santa María Ahuacatlán is often overlooked, but well worth a visit for both its elegant architecture and the unusual Black Christ on its main altar.
