Australia
The names of 60,000 servicemen and servicewomen are displayed on this monument to commemorate the Australians who served.
The Vietnam Veterans Commemorative Walk is the sole monument of its kind in Australia and shines a light on a dark time in the country’s history. It is made of up of a DigiGlass wall and red earth walkway located in the center of Seymour. The wall is surrounded by native Australian trees and grasses that resemble the rubber trees and rice paddies of Vietnam. Over 100 panels display the names and capacities of the Australians that served. The names sit against a backdrop of pictures to tell the tragic story of the war. Poppies are to be placed in the panel holes to create a field of flowers below the names of those veterans. The wall is lit at night and there are areas of contemplation along the length of the walk for those paying their respects any time of day.
