Colonial relics stand among the ruins of Incan sites in this city of melded cultures.
Vilcashuamán, taken from the Quechan term for "sacred hawk", is a city full of history. At one end stands a well-preserved Incan altar, while at its heart is a plaza with the ruins of two temples - one dedicated to the sun and the other the moon. While the Incas held ceremonies and sacrifices here, today, it's a pleasant space where you can relax and soak in the city's rich history and colonial architecture.
