Step into a Communist labour camp to learn about the many injustices carried out by the regime.
First built in 1947 for German POW’s, the Communist government repurposed the Gulag to inter political prisoners, later rebranding it a "re-educational" facility that was used to hold all manner of ‘criminal’. The prisoners were forced to work in the nearby uranium mines in crude conditions which led to a slew of health problems such as lung cancer. Today, visitors can step into the preserved prison area to learn about government persecution under the Communists, which is shown through everything from the prisoners’ possessions to documents dealing with anti-Communist resistance.
