Jordan
This UNESCO Biosphere offers some of the most breathtaking natural scenery in Jordan.
Measuring 1 kilometer deep and 4 kilometers wide, Wadi Mujib runs 70 kilometers, from the Desert Hwy to the Dead Sea. This stunning chasm isn’t just significant for its scale - it’s said Moses walked through the wadi, which served as the historic boundary between the ancient Amorites and Moabites. The wadi is the centerpiece of the Mujib Biosphere Reserve - a UNESCO protected area that covers 212 square kilometers of rugged landscape and is home to some of the region’s most precious species like the Syrian Wolf and Caracal mountain cat. The reserve is criss-crossed with a network of hiking trails of varying difficulty. If you don’t mind getting wet, the 2km Siq Trail will having you hiking upriver (in chest deep water at times) between soaring walls of banded rock, culminating in a waterfall with a large pool where you can swim.
