Wat Analayo

At the heart of this serene, statue-filled temple complex is a viham with dazzling jewel-encrusted Buddhas.

About

Wat Analayo was built for a revered abbot, who was visited annually by the king, in the 1990. Scattered throughout the temple grounds are Buddha images from various Thai eras, as well as representations of Hindu deities like Vishnu and Shiva. At the very top of the hill is the small royal viham which holds precious Buddhas in silver and gold, and ornamented with diamonds and emeralds, which were presented by the king, as well as a large elephant encrusted with Ceylonese gems from by the Sri Lankan government. So precious are the temple’s treasures that it even has its own security force!
