Ybycui National Park

In the 1850s, the rich natural resources of Ybycui National Park were crucial to the modernization of Paraguay.

About

Ybycui National Park was home to La Rosada, the first iron foundry in South America, and was an irreplaceable resource during the War of the Triple Alliance. Today, visitors to Ybycui National Park can hike the manicured trails, take a dip in the various swimming holes, or relax in the recreation area. There is a small museum in the park dedicated to the history of La Rosada that outlines the importance of the foundry during the modernization and industrialization of Paraguay under Carlos Antonio Lopez. The museum houses a small collection of items made at the foundry and has been restored to emulate the former workers’ facilities. Entrance to the park is approximately 1 EUR and opening hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. Private tours are available but must be reserved in advance.
