Yerbatera Selecta

Located right outside the yerba mate capital of Paraguay, Yerbatera Selecta is the largest factory producing and packaging this important herbal commodity. A guided tour takes you extensively through the entire processes involved in the yerba industry, from nursery, plantations, drying and roasting, milling, and finally packaging at the end of the process. There is a chance to get a closer look at the inner workings of their machines via the museum. Of course, you can sample the finished product towards the end of the tour! Not only is Yerbatera Selecta the biggest factory of it’s kind in Paraguay, it also has it’s own 173 hectare nature reserve! Armed with sturdy shoes you can enjoy a wide variety of animals, birds, and butterflies amongst the tall trees, and the occasional natural spring along the 5km forest track.
