Batumi Botanical Gardens

This sprawling 108-hectare expanse beckons visitors to a green paradise along the Black Sea shore.

About

Batumi Botanical Gardens is one of the largest of its kind in the former Soviet Union and was founded in the 1880s by the Russian botanist Andrey Nikolayevich Krasnov. Wander through nine floristic sectors, representing plants from all over the world, including the Caucasus, East Asia, New Zealand, South America, the Himalayas, Mexico, Australia, and the Mediterranean. There are close to 2,000 different species of plants in the garden, making it one of the most diverse botanical gardens in the world. A number of walking paths in the garden will guide you through the gardens from south to north, allowing you to peruse the cross-section of the garden’s different plant collections. Batumi Botanical Garden is a must-visit for anyone interested in plants, nature, or simply a beautiful place to relax.
