Mexico
See one of the largest concentrations of rock art in Mexico and ponder the mysterious civilisations who left them behind.
The artists of the prolific and intricate Boca de Potrerillos designs remain unknown at this archeological site north east from Monterrey. At the mouth of the Potrerillos Canyon, one of the largest concentrations of rock art in Mexico sits as a mesmerizing reminder of humanity’s ancient past. Approximately 3,000 petroglyphs have been uncovered at the site, with the carvings ranging from astronomical and ceremonial symbols to representations of daily hunter-gatherer life. Along with the artwork, pots, shells, arrowheads and grinding stones have been found in the surrounding areas. The diversity of artifacts suggest prolonged occupation of different human settlements from as early as 8900 BC. Lose yourself in the past as you walk through the ethereal desert landscape dotted with cacti and stunning views.
