Overview: car trip from Naples Airport to Minori

Those looking for a timeless coastal escape should consider driving with Daytrip from Naples Airport to Minori. This town is nestled between the sea and the cliffs. It's a charming and picturesque coastal town in Italy with fantastic beaches, crystal clear waters, ancient ruins, and delicious cuisine.

Minori is tragically lesser known than its beautiful neighbors, Positano and Amalfi. However, considering a Naples to Minori transfer will only take 45 miles, it's well worth the trip. Not only is the car ride relatively quick if you travel with Daytrip, but you'll also get to sightsee along the way, and the sights you'll see are captivating.

With Daytrip, you can visit the Herculaneum Archeological Area to see what a Roman city used to look like. Then, when you continue your drive, you can stop at Mount Vesuvius, a strangely beautiful landscape you can witness during a guided tour. Afterward, your English-speaking driver will take you to the Villa di Poppea to explore, which used to be a royal vacation home before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, which buried it.

But that's not even the best part of your trip. You'll also get to visit the Bosco de Medici Winery, Pompeii, and Ravello. Each place offers a unique history and a different experience. Just let your driver know where you want to go and ask them to share any insights, and they will do so. They might not be tour guides, but they can fill you in on local details before you sightsee and get to Minori to begin your Italian adventure in this coastal town.

About Minori

You'll find Minori in the middle of the Amalfi coast near Amalfi, Ravello, and Positano. Although Minori might not be as popular as its neighboring coastal destinations, it does have the benefit of being less expensive, making it a more affordable coastal destination. It is also conveniently located on the Amalfi Coast, which makes it the perfect destination for anyone who wants to explore the entire Amalfi coastline and the Sorrento Peninsula.

When you visit Minori, you should expect to be wowed by its incredible scenery of staggering cliffsides, crystal clear blue ocean, and stunning coastal architecture. Despite its small size, there's so much to do in this town.

Several restaurants are serving delicious local cuisine, beach clubs where you can truly enjoy a day of gazing at the Mediterranean ocean while sipping on an iced beverage, and ancient ruins to explore while you embrace your inner archeologist.

Speaking of ancient things, the town also has a history that stretches back millennia. Before Minori was known as such, it used to be called Rheginni Minor – although this is not universally agreed upon. It was called this because of a nearby river.

According to historians, Minori was also believed to have been founded in the Etrucian or Greek Ages. There are historical fisherman cottages and colorful lanes with gorgeous coastal houses that show the town's historic roots.

When you visit Minori, you can also expect to tour a beautiful town center with all the shops you will need. There is also a museum and villa to explore if you love history and a gorgeous promenade along the coast for those who want to spend time at the beach. You'll also get to see one of the most beautiful churches found on the Amalfi Coast in Minori, and if you're in the mood for hiking, you can enjoy the beautiful 'path of the lemons.’

From Naples Airport to Minori: travel tips

Sometimes, learning travel tips can be tedious, but we promise that the ones we've shared below will help make your trip from Naples Airport to Minori exceptionally enjoyable.

Explore historical sights

It might come as a surprise, but when you enjoy a Naples Airport to Minori transfer, you'll visit many different historical sights.

We urge you to visit the UNESCO-listed Herculaneum Archeological Area, the Villa di Poppea, and Pompeii. These sites are found along the way and are filled with ancient history you won't want to miss out on learning about.

Also, when you get to Minori, there are quite a few historical sights to see, like the Basilica di Santa Trofimena and the Villa Romana e Antiquarium.

Enjoy the delicious cuisine

There are many incredible dishes to try during your travels from Naples Airport to Minori. After all, the route does take you through a few of the best places in Italy. For example, you can stop at the Bosco de Medici Winery and taste many fine wines and traditional local cuisine.

Then, when you go past Ravello, you can enjoy a hearty meal while enjoying one of the most beautiful views in the world. So be sure to stop and grab something small to eat at as many places as possible to taste luxury in a mouthful.

Plan for seasonal crowds

Even though Minori isn't as popular as other towns along the Amalfi coast, it still gets busy, especially during the summer months. That's why you need to plan for seasonal crows. If you do not want to experience the crowds, you should consider shoulder season travel for a more relaxed experience.

How to get from Naples Airport to Minori

At this point, you're likely eager to get your travels from Naples Airport to Minori underway, and we can't blame you, considering everything you'll get to see along the way and do once you get to the coastal town. Yet, how do you get here? To give you an idea of your travel options, we briefly shared a few of the best ways to complete this transfer.

From Naples Airport to Minori by bus

The bus is the most budget-friendly way to get from Naples Airport to Minor. If you want to book a bus, you should consider Alibus, which offers trips from the airport to Naples Central Station. From there, you must buy a ticket for the SITA Sud coach line to get a direct bus to Minori.

Usually, the entire journey by bus will cost between $12 and $15 (€10.75-€13), and you can expect the trip to take between two and a half and three hours. Unfortunately, although bus travel between these two destinations is cheap, you'll have to navigate public transportation with luggage and crowded cabins. So keep this in mind, especially if you're planning to travel during the peak season.

From Naples Airport to Minori by train

If you don't mind transfers and want to experience ferry travel, you can consider taking a train for part of the way. You must take a train from the Naples Central Station to Salerno, then take a ferry from Salerno to Minori.

Your train journey will be with Trenitalia and will cost between $5 and $10, while the ferry portion of your trip will likely cost between $10 and $15 (€9-€13). Time-wise, you can expect the trip to take about two and a half and three hours, the same amount of time as the bus.

Like the bus, you will need to handle your luggage, which can be cumbersome as you travel from the train to the ferry and then off the ferry to your accommodation, which usually involves a bus or taxi trip if you don't walk.

However, the biggest plus to this combined form of travel is the scenic views you'll enjoy during the ferry portion of your trip.

From Naples Airport to Minori by private car transfer

A car transfer from Naples Airport to Minori with Daytrip is one of the best ways to travel to this coastal town. When you travel with Daytrip, which is a door-to-door service, you'll get a comfortable and entertaining travel experience.

This is because you can choose the car you drive in and stop and sightsee. The vehicles are driven by professional English-speaking drivers who know the route and can get you to your destination safely. Daytrip is also quite affordable, considering it's reliable, safe, and comfortable.

On average, a booking for this trip costs only $30 (€27). If you travel directly—we recommend sightseeing—you'll get to Minori in only an hour and 10 minutes. This makes it the perfect option if you're transferring to the airport and want to get to your hotel quickly for a quick nap before exploring or for a day trip if you're on a short timeline.

Things to do when you get to Minori

Once you're ready to explore Minori and immerse yourself in the culture and history of this coastal town, you'll need to have a travel agenda. To help you pick out what you will do during your stay, we've shared a few of the best things to do in this idyllic Amalfi town.

Villa Romana e Antiquarium

One of Minori's biggest attractions is the Villa Romana e Antiquarium, a Roman villa dating back to the 1st century AD. It's the perfect place to visit if you love history and want more from your trip than simply good food and glorious sunshine.

The Villa Romana e Antiquarium is truly beautiful. When you visit, you'll get a healthy glimpse into ancient Roman life and what it was like with the villa's stunning mosaics, thermal baths, and preserved frescoes.

The attached antiquarium is also worth seeing. It houses several ancient artifacts found on-site, including tools and pottery, which provide a deeper understanding of the era.

Basilica di Santa Trofimena

Religious sites can seem like a dime a dozen in Italy, but one of the region's most beautiful ancient churches, the Basilica di Santa Trofimena, is located in Minori. This church is dedicated to the town's patron saint and is an extraordinary example of Baroque architecture.

When you visit, you'll see the church's stunning interior, adorned with intricate stucco work, frescoes, and marble altars. You can also tour a crypt that holds the relics of Santa Trofimena. After you visit, you'll see why the church is significant to the locals.

Minori beach

When in Minori, it would be devastating not to visit the Minori beach. This beach might not be as famous as others on the Amalfi coast, but it is the perfect place to fully rest, relax, and soak up the sun during your trip. This pristine beach is also a good swimming spot if you want to frolic in the waters of the Mediterranean Ocean.

Plus, if you work up an appetite while swimming, you can visit one of the charming cafes or restaurants along the beach. There is plenty to choose from when serving fresh seafood and traditional dishes.

When is the best time to visit Minori?

Most people driving from Naples Airport to Minori agree that the best time to visit this stunning coastal town is during the spring months of April to June or the fall months of September to November. These shoulder seasons offer travelers lower accommodation rates, cheaper attractions, and more affordable travel. These seasons are also more relaxed.

However, Minori is also a fantastic place to visit in the summer if you have the budget. The weather is incredible, the days sun-filled, and the cuisine is top-notch. The summer weather can be unpredictable, but it's still the best time if you want a beach vacation.
