Casa Madero Winery

The oldest winery in the Americas offers guided tours through its abundant grounds and tastings of its finest vintages.

About

Casa Madero Winery was established in 1597 and has been producing wine for 426 years in the rich lands of Parras de la Fuente. Between the desert and the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains, speckled with natural springs and overflowing with sun and rain, the viticulture in the region simply flourishes. Franciscan and Jesuit missionaries introduced grape vine cuttings from Spain that belonged to the Vitis vinifera variety, which is commonly known as the "mission grape." This variety is still grown in the borderlands today. Purchase the Vineyard Tour to cover 400 hectares of land with three main stops: the Santa Bárbara vineyard viewpoint, the Shiraz grape lot, and La Encantada for a panoramic view and photo opportunity. Then visit the winery itself to witness the wine production process and distillation methods before visiting the oldest area, showcasing barrels used over 50 years ago and presses dating back to 1808. End the tour with a tasting of three wines, guided by a Casa Madero Sommelier. Tickets are available on the website from US$58.
