Ultimately, there's much you can get up to when traveling from Livorno to Nice with Daytrip. So plan a few stops, explore some of these attractions, and prepare for the beauty of Nice.

About Nice

The seaside resort city of Nice is a renowned holiday destination and has been attracting sun-lovers since the 18th century. But its history is more rich and vast, considering that it was founded in 350 BCE. From a Roman takeover in the 1st century CE to being placed under protection by the Counts of Savoy from 1388 until 1860 not to mention a few French invasions, Nice is a treasure trove that tells the tales of all it’s overcome.

While the beach is the main attraction, a simple stroll through this French city, sheltered by spectacular scenery will reveal its history through its architecture, monuments, churches, and cultural touch points and landmarks. Its proximity to the Italian border means the city is opulent, with intricate finery seen in the simplest of places, but that doesn't mean it is without its own unique beauty, traditions, character, and culture.

So book a trip to Nice and be prepared to be met by beautiful pebbled waterfront beaches, Baroque churches, pastel-colored local homes, ancient twisting streets, modern sculptures, candy-colored cathedrals, cozy cafes, and Roman ruins.

From Livorno to Nice: travel tips

Everyone can imagine how exciting it is to travel from Livorno to Nice, but the last thing you want to do is begin your travels unprepared. Fortunately, there's an easy solution. Simply learn a few must-know travel tips like the ones we listed below, and you'll be on the path toward a killer vacation!

Stop for sightseeing

If you want as luxurious and enriching a holiday as possible, consider making a few stops on the road from Livorno to Nice to take in the sights and stretch your legs. You wouldn’t want to miss Pisa’s Leaning Tower, hundreds of lavish palaces in Genoa’s UNESCO-listed city center, or modern extravagance in Monaco.

Try to dress modestly when visiting churches

When traveling from Livorno to Nice, there are a few churches, chapels, and cathedrals you might want to visit. If you do plan on visiting any religious site like these, it's best to dress appropriately, as it's frowned upon to wear revealing clothes. If it's hot and you're wearing shorts and a T-shirt, carry a scarf to cover exposed thighs and shoulders.

Bring your own shopping bags to markets

Italy and France are two of the best places in the world to tour markets, such as Vieux's open-air market or Marche de la Liberation market, but they do have their quirks. For example, if you want to purchase any of the goods at the markets you visit when sightseeing between Livorno and Nice, you need to bring along a basket or your own shopping totes. Most places you'll Italy and France don't often provide shopping bags, so be prepared.

Be wary of thieves

If you're planning on traveling by public transportation, such as the bus, train, or ferry, you need to be wary of thieves. Although France is a safe country for the most part, thieves and pickpockets are known to target travelers at public transport stations. So be on the lookout when traveling from Livorno to Nice, or consider booking a private door-to-door transfer service to avoid this issue altogether.

How to get from Livorno to Nice

You can get from Livorno to Nice by bus, train, ferry, or with a private car transfer service like Daytrip. Let's take a look at what each brings to the table to help you determine how you're going to travel.

From Livorno to Nice by train

Taking a train is one of the quicker and more straightforward ways to travel from Livorno to Nice. A train trip between the two European cities takes about six hours, and a ticket costs between $28 and $44, so it's also one of the more affordable ways to travel. Sometimes it's even cheaper than the bust! There aren't many train departures daily, so if you want to take a train book with Trenitalia Intercity in advance.

From Livorno to Nice by bus

If you can't book a train, your next best budget option is the bus. A bus trip from Livorno to Nice usually takes eight hours and 30 minutes, with tickets costing between $29 and $65. Trenitalia is the most popular bus line, but budget coach Flixbus also sometimes offers trips between these cities.

From Livorno to Nice by ferry

The ferry is an attractive choice for many who want to travel from Livorno to Nice, but it is the most expensive. This is because there are often no direct ferry trips from one city to the next – unless you're lucky enough to have booked in advance.

Usually, you can only take a ferry as far as Bastia, and then, from Bastia, you can take another ferry to Nice. The Bastia to Nice ferry only runs 3 times a week, so you'll likely need to stay overnight while you wait. Or you can fly to Nice. On average, the entire trip can cost between $124 and $453 and will take at least eight and a half hours. In our opinion, it's not worth it price-wise or time-wise.

From Livorno to Nice with Daytrip's private transfer service

Do you want to make a few sightseeing stops between Livorno and Nice and want your trip to be more comfortable, time-efficient, and cost-effective? If so, you should consider booking with a private car transfer service like Daytrip.

Daytrip starts at 141 euros per person for a private car from Livorno to Nice, though the exact price depends on what type of vehicle you book. With a travel time of only four hours and 40 minutes, Daytrip is significantly faster than taking the bus, train, or ferry. Use this extra time to stop for sightseeing at places like Pisa, Genoa, or Monaco!

You can also book exactly when you want to travel, so you won't need to rush to a station or spend time looking for your transport. Daytrip’s drivers are also caring and conscientious so you won't need to worry about your baggage as they will handle it for you. And since they speak English, you can even talk about local culture and get a few tips about where to make your trip more exciting.

Things to do when you get to Nice

As one of the largest cities in France, Nice boasts numerous attractions and landmarks worthy of your attention after your trip from Livorno to Nice. Whether you're a veteran traveler or leisurely making your way across Europe, you'll want to tour the city.

But what should you get up to when visiting? That's a tough question to answer, so we've shared a few of the best things to do in Nice below.

Old Town (Vieille Ville)

The Old Town in Nice is one of the best places to walk around if you're after a relaxing afternoon walk and want to do some shopping. This popular area has narrow, twisty streets lined with many authentic French restaurants, shops, and a local flower, fruit, and vegetable market. Old Town is also colorful and lively, so it is best to visit in the morning during the off-season to avoid overcrowding in the narrow walkways with other travelers.

Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art

Those traveling during the summertime who want to beat the heat while touring Nice should consider visiting the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Not only is this museum indoors and blissfully air conditioned to protect the art and you from overheating, but it's also filled with extraordinary artworks by well-known local artists like Yves Klein. It is also pretty to look at with its intriguing architectural design, and the rooftop is worth a visit as it gives you a spectacular view of the city.

Palais Lascaris

If it's a rainy day in Nice, there is no better place to visit than the 17th-century Palais Lascaris. This palace is affordable, with low-priced entry tickets, and its beautiful interior gives travelers an authentic glimpse into what a nobleman's townhouse used to look like during this period. You will see ornate decor and 18th-century ornamentation and instrumentation when you visit. Plus, it's found in the Old Town, so if you plan to visit there, you can stop by both – two birds, one stone.

When is the best time to visit Nice?

Traveling from Livorno to Nice during the summer months can be tempting, but we advise against this idea. Not only is Nice incredibly hot during the summer, but it's crowded, so accommodations and attractions are far more expensive, and you'll need to contend with long waiting lines at places like churches and museums.

That's why visiting during the spring or fall shoulder seasons is a better plan. The weather is still sunny but remarkably more pleasant, and room rates are lower, and there are fewer crowds. You'll save money, enjoy shorter waiting times at popular attractions, and avoid sweating so much you risk dehydration. It's a win-win!

It was a fantastic trip.

We were extremely satisfied with the quality of service we received from Day Trip. We had two Day Trip rides on August 31 from Athens to Lefkada and September 7 from Lefkada back to Athens. Both trips included stops at scenic sites in Greece. Both drivers were excellent and accommodating. However, we’d especially like to recognize Panos Peppas, who was our driver from Lefkada to Athens. Panos was incredibly nice & pleasant and delivered outstanding customer service, which included handling all of luggage, providing us with cold waters throughout the trip, providing us protein bars, providing us with printed materials on the Corinth Canal (one of scenic stops), looking up and providing us with terminal & gate info for our flight back home and providing us with a recipe for tzatziki.

Reasonably Priced and Safe Transportation

Gonzalo from daytrip was our driver and he was absolutely amazing. He went over and beyond trying to locate us as our service wasn't so good on our phones. He patiently awaited our arrival to the lobby so he could take us from Tulum Dreams Resort to our other hotel in cancun an hour and a half away near the airport prior to our departure flight home. He was polite, respectful and kind. Made sure we were comfortable during our long ride. Fast and to the point. I recommend this company as finding a one way ride from Tulum to Cancun isn't easy or cheap and this company provides a great service for a great price. I will definitely be using them again whenever I'm in the Cancun/Tulum area. Thank you DayTrip and Gonzola.

Daytrip never disappoints

We were picked up by Marianna to drive us from Heraklion to Chania. The weather was terrible & due to this Marianna arrived a few minutes late. She contacted me to advise of this. Marianna lives in Chana and she made our trip very interesting by informing us of local things to do and see in Chania. Marianna is a safe driver and we all felt comfortable with the speed she drove at and how good her driving was in heavy rain. She is a lovely person with fluent English. We highly recommend Daytrips and if you are in Heraklion or Chania please make sure you ask for Marianna.

Great way to travel and see some sights on the way

We did not know what to expect with this trip and booked from Australia. We were initially looking for an easy way to travel from Granada to Malaga. We decided not to waste the opportunity to see something additional on our way. Miguel certainly exceeded our expectations. His English was excellent (unfortunately we speak very little Spanish), and he was very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the regions as we passed through and also discussing some of the local ways. Miguel took us to Antequera as planned and ensured we were able to easily get our tickets to the attractions without any sense of rushing us. We were picked up and dropped off punctually and really enjoyed our trip. Hopefully we will return to Spain and we can use this service again sometime.

Excellent service

We used the service twice while in Thailand. Extremely prompt and efficient customer service. Best rate being offered in Chiang Mai for the travels. Polite, punctual, professional and English speaking drivers. Clean, comfortable vehicles. Being a regular visitor to Thailand, this was hands down the best service. Most pleased with the company. I hope it sustains the excellence of service that was rendered to us.
