Know more about your day trip

Krka National Park is about 55 miles (89 km) from Split, and the drive to the Lozovac entrance takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes each way. The highway route via the A1 is the fastest option, taking the Sibenik exit and following signs toward the park.
Krka is one of Croatia's most visited national parks, and it can be very busy in July and August, particularly around Skradinski Buk. Arriving early in the morning is the best way to enjoy the falls before the peak-hour crowds arrive. Shoulder season visits in May, June, or September offer a noticeably quieter and more relaxed experience.
Skradinski Buk is the largest and most dramatic of Krka's seven waterfalls and the centerpiece of any visit to the park. A series of travertine barriers create a wide cascade of turquoise water surrounded by lush vegetation. Wooden walkways wind through and around the falls, offering excellent viewing points and a designated swimming area downstream.
Visovac Monastery is a Franciscan religious community situated on a small island in the middle of the Krka River, first established in the 15th century. It is one of the most iconic sights in the park and can be reached by a boat excursion that departs from within the park. The island also houses a small museum with historic manuscripts and paintings.
Late spring (May to June) and early fall (September) offer the best conditions for visiting Krka. The waterfalls are at their most powerful after spring rainfall, crowds are thinner than in peak summer, and the weather is pleasantly warm for walking the trails and swimming in the river. Winter visits are possible, but some park sections may be closed.
The Lozovac entrance is the main gate and the most commonly used. From here, a free shuttle bus takes visitors down to Skradinski Buk. The Skradin entrance, on the other hand, offers a scenic 25-minute boat ride up the Krka River as part of the admission, making it a more memorable arrival into the park. Both are valid options depending on your preference.
Krka is a biodiversity hotspot. The park is home to 222 bird species, including kingfishers and herons, as well as otters, freshwater turtles, and numerous fish species in the river. The surrounding forests and wetlands also support 18 species of bat and a wide variety of reptiles and amphibians.
