Yes! Book a private, door-to-door airport transfer with a local English-speaking driver. Enjoy fixed and transparent pricing, no hidden fees, and the option to pay in advance without the hassle of exchanging cash at a foreign airport.
You will receive the vehicle that best fits the number of travelers in your group, ranging from a sedan to a van for groups of up to 7. Depending where you travel, you can book anything from a sedan comparable to a Toyota Corolla to a Mercedes V-Class to a Classic Cuban Car. While the exact model may vary, we always ensure that the vehicle provided meets your needs in terms of safety, reliability, and comfort. You may be upgraded to a larger vehicle class free of charge depending on availability. Since our largest vehicle seats 7, for groups larger a combination of vehicles will be used. We will send you the exact vehicle details a few days before your trip.
Everywhere except the USA, drivers will supply appropriate child seats (just let us know during booking). In the USA, certain states require you to supply your own child seats.
Know more about traveling from Struga
A well-paced day trip runs about 6 to 8 hours, which gives you time to swim at one of the three lake beaches, visit the National Museum of Struga, and stroll along the Crni Drim River where it flows into the lake. If you want to linger over a lakeside lunch or catch a poetry reading during the festival season, the upper end of that range is worth it.
Yes. The three lake beaches are shallow and calm enough for children, and the town itself is easy to navigate on foot with no steep terrain. The relaxed pace suits families who want a mix of swimming and light sightseeing rather than a packed itinerary. Arriving by private transfer also removes the stress of coordinating schedules with public transport when you are traveling with kids, letting you set your own start time and head back whenever energy levels dictate.
The museum holds permanent collections covering local art, history, science, and ethnographic material culture, giving a well-rounded picture of the region's heritage. Its most distinctive exhibit is a large collection of animal specimens gathered from the surrounding area in the early 1900s for scientific research â an unusual and memorable display that sets this museum apart from standard regional history museums. It is compact enough to tour in under an hour, making it an easy addition to a beach-focused day without eating into your lake time.
Each summer, Struga hosts one of the oldest and most celebrated international poetry festivals in the world, drawing poets and literary audiences from dozens of countries â typically held in late summer, though it is worth checking the official Struga Poetry Evenings website for the current year's dates. Readings happen outdoors along the riverbank and in public spaces, creating an atmosphere that is genuinely unlike anything else in the region. If you are traveling through the Balkans during the festival, timing a day trip to coincide with it adds a cultural dimension that is hard to replicate.
Struga sits on the shore of Lake Ohrid in southwestern North Macedonia, making it easily reachable from Ohrid (roughly 15 km / 9 miles), Skopje (approximately 165 km / 103 miles), and Tirana (approximately 95 km / 59 miles). A private transfer is the most practical option because Struga is compact enough to explore on foot once you arrive, meaning there is no need to navigate local transport or worry about parking. Your driver drops you at the water's edge and collects you when you are ready to leave.
Struga offers a more relaxed, intimate alternative to its famous neighbor Ohrid, without sacrificing the beauty of Lake Ohrid's crystal-clear waters. You get three beaches, a charming old town, and a genuine local atmosphere that feels far less crowded than the typical tourist trail. It is the kind of place where you can swim in the morning, wander through the museum in the afternoon, and leave feeling like you actually discovered something.
