Popeye Village is open daily from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Admission is not included in the transfer price and must be purchased separately. Popeye Village in Anchor Bay was built in 1979 as the film set for the 1980 live-action Popeye movie starring Robin Williams. Director Robert Altman chose Malta for its Mediterranean coastline and Anchor Bay's sheltered, picturesque setting. After filming, the colorful wooden structures were kept and transformed into a family entertainment attraction that is now one of Malta's most recognizable landmarks.
Malta's warm Mediterranean climate makes Popeye Village enjoyable from spring through autumn. Summer (June to August) offers the warmest, sunniest conditions and is ideal for making the most of the boat rides and outdoor activities, though it can be hot and busy. Spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) offer pleasant weather with fewer visitors, making for a more relaxed experience.
