The straightforward Nice to Cannes transfer covers a distance of 21 miles (34 km) in just 40 minutes with a Daytrip private driver, and travelers can look forward to unmatched comfort and convenience along the way. With a private transfer, you’ll also have the opportunity to stop en route for exciting sightseeing opportunities to enhance your tour of France.
For instance, you can take a detour to the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild to pursue an opulent and whimsical museum built originally as the private estate of Charlotte Béatrice de Rothschild, an ultra-wealthy banking heiress seeking a place to display her art collection. Today, the villa and its many themed gardens are open to the public.
Or, consider visiting the largest green space in Nice, the Parc du Mont Boron. Here, visitors can enjoy almost 7 miles (11 km) of walking trails dotted with native tree species. At the crowning hill of the park rests the 16th-century Fort du Mon Alban, an imposing walled structure complete with a drawbridge.
Cannes is perhaps one of the most well-known cities along the French Riviera, given its propensity toward cultural events and celebrity visits. The city is known in particular for the Cannes Film Festival, which quickly became one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world after its founding in 1946. The city remains a Mediterranean rendezvous point for celebrities and artists from around the world year-round. Your trip from Nice to Cannes will whisk you into an artistic and cultural epicenter for a dazzling day trip or a longer stay.
One of the busiest towns along the Riviera, Cannes is not far from Nice or Monaco, yet it maintains a unique identity that draws in around 3 million visitors a year. Once a fishing village, the city has blossomed into a cosmopolitan oasis known for its red-carpet affairs and luxurious hotels, restaurants, and bars. While it may seem ultra-ritzy, Cannes also offers approachable local dining, an easy-to-navigate public transportation system (and great walkability), as well as plenty of free activities to enjoy while soaking up the balmy temperatures.
The locals of Cannes have a saying that perfectly captures its charming appeal: “Qui li ven li vieù” ("Whoever goes there, lives there"). The array of pristine beaches, traditional French cafes, and a distinct touch of luxury make it an unforgettable destination for travelers from all walks of life. Outside of the film festival period, Canes offers a quiet and peaceful retreat that rounds out any tour of France.
Ahead of your Nice to Cannes transfer, there are a couple of travel tips to keep in mind that will help you to have the best time possible.
In order to make Cannes more affordable, consider investing in the Cote D’azure pass, a $27 (€24) card that will reduce the cost of any cultural and artistic attractions you might want to explore. The pass includes discounts on activities such as boat rides, buses and trains, museums, zoos, tours, and even local food and wine tastings.
The pass applies to several cities of the Cote D’Azur, including Nice, Cannes, and Monaco.
Choosing between transportation options can be one of the more stressful parts of travel planning, which is why opting for a private car service that offers maximum booking flexibility and convenient door-to-door service can go a long way. Choosing a reputable private transfer provider such as Daytrip will make your trip as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.
Our friendly local drivers will assist you with everything from loading your luggage to any questions about the area you might have, ensuring a fantastic trip and a great experience during your stay in Cannes.
There are quite a few different ways to get from Nice to Cannes, including both public and private transportation options.
The best option for many travelers is a private car transfer service such as the one offered by Daytrip. This fast, comfortable option offers great value for travelers, starting at just $18.95 (€17) per seat for convenient door-to-door service with an English-speaking driver and the option to add sightseeing stops along the way. This is an affordable taste of the luxurious experiences that define Cannes.
The private transfer is also a great choice for those arriving at the Nice airport or leaving from the Cannes airport, as you will have much greater control over your departure time and itinerary than you will when relying on public transportation.
The train from Nice to Cannes takes about 40 minutes, not including the time spent navigating to and from the train station in both cities. Tickets can vary wildly in cost, ranging from $6 (€5) to as much as $45 (€41) for the short-distance ride, depending on your travel date and time.
The bus from Cannes also takes around 40 minutes, though tickets are generally better priced at an average cost of about $6 to $9 (€5-€8). There are longer bus routes that involve a transfer to the line 81 bus part of the way through, but these take almost 2 hours and may only be useful as a last resort if the primary route is overbooked.
A taxi from Nice to Cannes will take 30-40 minutes, depending on your specific pickup and drop-off locations, but be mindful that taxis in this area are generally very expensive. The average fare for this route is $90 to $120 (€81-€108) despite the cities not being very far apart.
For the highly adventurous traveler, it is possible to rent out a helicopter charter for this transfer, which involves about 20 minutes of in-air time and varying lengths of time spent on the ground for safety preparations. This option is more of a high-end novelty experience than a pragmatic transfer choice, and the costs reflect that at about $800 to $1,000 (€722-€903) per flight.
There is a ferry company as well as several smaller boat tours that operate between Nice and Cannes in the summer months, but the journey will take around an hour. Ticket prices can vary with the seasons and across boat companies but are generally reported to be around $30 to $55 (€27-€50). To save time, other public transport methods or private car services are better options.
After you make your way from Nice to Cannes, you will see a huge variety of activities awaiting you in this French Riviera paradise.
Each year in the autumn months (typically in early November), the French Riviera hosts one of the most popular marathon races in the world. Starting in Nice and ending in Cannes, the route follows an incredible path between the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains encircling the area. The race starts at the Promenade des Anglais in Nice and finishes along the Boulevard de la Croisette in Cannes.
For those less inclined to join the race, the festivities surrounding the marathon can be great fun to join in on, and the autumn months in Cannes generally offer cooler weather and a reprieve from the biggest crowds.
This dominant building right on the Cannes seafront hosts the Cannes Film Festival each year and is open in the off-seasons to the public. Inside, visitors can delight in learning more about the history of the festival and the French film industry, as well as see displays featuring the red carpet and various celebrity handprints. The Palace is a great free attraction for the whole family, and its central seaside location makes it the perfect jumping-off point for your Cannes exploration.
The Marché Forville is a fantastic traditional market bursting with activity and local flavor. Visitors can shop alongside Cannes residents for produce, prepared foods, and locally grown flowers for an enchanting and quintessentially French experience.
This is the old marina of Cannes, standing as a preserved testament to the city’s days as a fishing village. For the seafood aficionado, this is the place to go for an exciting range of restaurants and fish markets. The vibrant area is also full of small shops and offers a stunning seaside backdrop for morning strolls.
As you plan for your trip from Nice to Cannes, you will likely be wondering about the best time of year to visit this star-studded destination. The city becomes particularly busy in May before and during the film festival, so it may be difficult or impossible to find accommodation during this time unless you book it far in advance.
Instead, consider visiting in the earlier spring months or later in the autumn for cool, dry weather and fewer crowds than you will encounter in the hottest summer months after the film festival. This can also be a good time to score off-season flight and hotel deals.

“I was unsure about this company but a few good reviews on Trip Advisor made me take the chance. I am so happy that we did. We needed a ride from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai. Our driver Saksun was an excellent driver - it's not a long distance to drive (by Texas standards!) but the road is challenging and there are a lot of places where improvements to the road are being made. It took around 3 hours with a stop at a place with very clean bathrooms, very interesting hot springs and a place to get a snack and cold drinks. Saksun had a vehicle that was fantastic for this type of drive - a very comfortable ride indeed and was obviously well maintained and very clean. I highly recommend this company. I used to post on trip advisor as "lakekariba" but got out of the habit of doing so. This company was so easy to use and the result was so enjoyable that I felt that the company Daytrip and the driver Saksun had earned our trust and a glowing review. Dec 4, 2024“We used Daytrip to travel between Budapest and Vienna with a 2 hour stop for lunch in Bratislava. Our driver Zsombor arrived on time at our hotel in Budapest and was very friendly and informative throughout our trip. His vehicle was roomy and clean and he was kind enough to provide us with some bottled water for the trip. Our quick visit stop in Bratislava was very nice as well. He gave us plenty of time to explore the city and have lunch before meeting him again when it was time to head for Vienna. Daytrip provided us with a happy and trouble free transfer between Budapest and Vienna. Many thanks to your team and especially to your driver Zsombor!”

Very impressed and will definitely use them again. We went from Dubrovnik, Croatia to Tivat, Montenegro.”

Nov 1, 2024All Daytrip drivers speak English* as well as their native language (and sometimes additional languages too!). They'll be happy to discuss local history and culture with you, as well as answer any questions you may have. And because they speak the language, they're able to provide you with a unique opportunity to connect with local culture. *Drivers for Lite service aren't required to speak English but must meet all other standards.
We screen all our drivers for criminal and traffic records, and personally interview each one. We also inspect their cars for safety, comfort, and reliability. All cars must be less than ten years old, in excellent operating condition, and insured as required by local law. And because our drivers are locals, they're familiar with the rules and customs of the road.
If you’re traveling with children, make sure to let us know in the booking so we can get the appropriate child seats ready!
Pets are allowed (and loved)! We just need to know beforehand. You can tell us about them in the next phase of the booking.
Gratuity isn’t included or required, but if you really enjoyed your trip, you can show your driver your appreciation with an optional tip (10% is sufficient).
Each passenger is allowed to have one checked bag and one carry on. If you’re traveling with more bags or oversized luggage, you can adjust this while booking.
Pay by credit card online, or in cash directly to your driver!
