There is not a direct train route from LAX to San Diego, but it is possible to combine an airport shuttle bus (namely the LAX FlyAway-LAX2US) and the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner train to San Diego. The shuttle bus takes an hour and will drop you off at Union Station in Los Angeles. From there, the train takes an additional 3 hours to reach the San Diego city center, so it's not a fast option.
