An earthquake in the Tyrrhenian Sea sent shock waves through the water, culminating in a tsunami that wiped Amalfi off of the map. It swept entire families out to sea and destroyed the ports, boats, and buildings along the coast. The Amalfi population never recovered and the survivors joined the surrounding communities. ### The Amalfi of today For the next several hundred years, Amalfi focused its industries on agriculture, paper production, and catering to Italian vacationers. Amalfi’s hills are no joke when you have luggage! ### Salerno to Amalfi by bus Traveling by bus may be the cheapest way to get around the Sorrentine Peninsula, but it is only worth the price if you have a very flexible schedule. SITA runs buses between Salerno, Amalfi, and other towns on the peninsula, but it can be uncomfortable and unreliable. Much like public transportation within a city, you cannot buy tickets for a specific seat or departure time. You purchase an open ticket for around $3 at the bus station or a convenience store. With your ticket in hand, you then have to wait at the bus stop in a line and hope the next arriving bus has space for everyone in front of you, as well as everyone in your party. This journey can take as little as 90 minutes in the off-season but expect waiting and delays during the spring and summer.

“Quedamos extremadamente satisfechos con la calidad del servicio que recibimos de Day Trip. Tuvimos dos viajes con Day Trip el 31 de agosto de Atenas a Lefkada y el 7 de septiembre de Lefkada de regreso a Atenas. Ambos viajes incluyeron paradas en lugares pintorescos de Grecia. Ambos conductores fueron excelentes y complacientes. Sin embargo, nos gustaría especialmente reconocer a Panos Peppas, quien fue nuestro conductor de Lefkada a Atenas. Transporte seguro y a precio razonable

“Gonzalo de Daytrip fue nuestro conductor y fue absolutamente increíble. Hizo todo lo posible por localizarnos, ya que no teníamos buena señal en nuestros teléfonos. Esperó pacientemente nuestra llegada al vestíbulo para llevarnos desde el Tulum Dreams Resort a nuestro otro hotel en Cancún, a una hora y media de distancia, cerca del aeropuerto, antes de nuestro vuelo de regreso a casa. Fue educado, respetuoso y amable. Se aseguró de que estuviéramos cómodos durante todo el trayecto. Rápido y directo. “Marianna nos recogió para llevarnos de Heraclión a Chania. El clima era terrible y, debido a esto, Marianna llegó unos minutos tarde. Me contactó para avisarme. Marianna vive en Chania y hizo que nuestro viaje fuera muy interesante al contarnos sobre cosas locales para hacer y ver en Chania. Marianna es una conductora segura y todos nos sentimos cómodos con la velocidad a la que conducía y lo bien que manejó bajo la fuerte lluvia. Es una persona encantadora y habla inglés con fluidez. Una gran manera de viajar y ver algunos lugares en el camino

“No sabíamos qué esperar de este viaje y reservamos desde Australia. Inicialmente buscábamos una forma fácil de viajar de Granada a Málaga. Decidimos no perder la oportunidad de ver algo más en nuestro camino. Miguel ciertamente superó nuestras expectativas. Su inglés era excelente (lamentablemente hablamos muy poco español), y fue muy amable y servicial. Disfrutamos mucho escuchando sobre las regiones por las que pasamos y también discutiendo algunas de las costumbres locales. Miguel nos llevó a Antequera como estaba planeado y se aseguró de que pudiéramos conseguir fácilmente nuestras entradas para las atracciones sin ninguna prisa. Nos recogieron y dejaron puntualmente y realmente disfrutamos nuestro viaje. Esperamos volver a España y poder usar este servicio nuevamente en algún momento.”
