Southampton to Oxford and Blenheim Palace: Private day trip

Oxford isn't just a university - it's a living medieval city where Harry Potter was filmed and where Lewis Carroll dreamed up Alice in Wonderland.

You’ll walk through the Great Hall in Christ Church (yes, the one from Hogwarts) and the quiet cloisters where Harry Potter scenes were filmed. Lewis Carroll taught here, too, and the gardens helped shape Alice in Wonderland. After that, head to the Bodleian Library; it's one of the oldest in Europe. Stop by the Radcliffe Camera for a photo, then stroll the High Street. The buildings are old and stacked with stories. Swing through the Covered Market. It’s been open since the 1700s. Finally, if you're feeling up for it, climb the church tower for views across the city.

Blenheim is grand. Big rooms, wide lawns, and a real mix of history: Dukes, battles, politics, and family life.

You’ll start in the Great Hall with its huge painted ceiling. Then walk through the State Rooms, where every wall seems to have a portrait or tapestry. Churchill was born here, and his story is told in a small but moving exhibition, including the room where he was born. Outside the gardens go on and on, with a lake, a bridge, fountains, and flowerbeds. Walk through the Italian-style water terraces or find a quiet bench with a view of the palace behind you. There’s a lot to see, but easy to enjoy at your own pace.
