Sankt Gilgen
St. Gilgen is nestled on the banks of Lake Wolfgang and is the birthplace of Mozart’s mother, Anna Maria. Mozart’s sister Nannerl also lived in St. Gilgen after getting married. There is now a museum dedicated to the family, filled with memorabilia and artifacts. This stunning alpine lake village offers visitors scenic views of the surrounding mountains and features a cable car up to Zwolferhorn mountain for more exciting panoramas. Enjoy a stroll along the lake, taking in the charming traditional architecture, and visit the Mozart family museum, open from May to September.

Hallstatt
Hallstatt, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a charming historic village resting between a mountain and a glittering lake. This is one of the country’s oldest settlements, and it looks like something out of a fairy tale. While not directly connected to Mozart, Hallstatt encapsulates the beauty of the region where he lived and worked. Explore the stunning village, with its central fountain and traditional architecture. Visit the oldest salt mine in the world, or consider a lake cruise to see the picturesque village mirrored in the water.
