About Casablanca
The name Casablanca may conjure up images of classic cinema, but this coastal city is the largest in Morocco and the country's economic hub. However, it still has the old world charm you’ve come to expect from your trip around Morocco, with bazaars, mosques, and leather-working workshops.
Casablanca is a cosmopolitan city with plenty of international influence. As you make your way towards the coast from Fez to Casablanca, you’ll notice the countryside quickly gives way to a modern metropolis.
With such a short distance from the Atlantic ocean, Casablanca has a strong fishing culture. You won’t be able to go through a bazaar or market without seeing heaps of freshly caught fish, oysters, and crabs- all for a good price!
From Fez to Casablanca: travel tips
Follow these travel tips to have the best experience for your trip from Fez to Casablanca.
Pack modest clothing
Make sightseeing and exploring easier by keeping a set of modest coverup clothing in your day bag. A breezy long-sleeve shirt and long pants or a skirt that you can throw on will get you into mosques and help you blend in in more conservative towns. Or get a djellaba for a cover-up and souvenir all in one!
Learn the taxi code
Once you’re in Casablanca, traveling by local taxi is the best way to get around. Public transit is not convenient for reaching tourist destinations unless your hotel is on the route. White taxis are private and just for you and your travel companions, but red taxis are for picking up others as well on your way to your destination.
Get to the airport early
If you have a flight out of Casablanca, give yourself plenty of time to go through security at the airport. Your bags and passport will be checked before even entering the airport, then again after you go through the check-in process. Don’t miss your flight because of an avoidable delay!

Fez to Casablanca by train

Things to do when you get to Casablanca
Your trip from Fez to Casablanca is just the beginning! See the best that Casablanca has to offer at these hotspots:
Tour the Hassan II Mosque
The Hassan II Mosque was completed in 1993 and is one of the largest mosques in the world. It also has the tallest minaret in the world, at 689 feet (210 meters). The sand-colored walls with turquoise and green mosaic detailing against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean are a must-see while in Casablanca.
Non-Muslims are welcome to tour the mosque in between prayer times. Wear shoes you can take off easily, as there are sections in which you cannot wear shoes. After your tour, the promenade around the mosque is full of locals and the sea breeze off the coast is a great reprieve from the warm weather.
See a bit of Hollywood at Rick’s Cafe
Casablanca is a classic romantic drama film released in 1942, set in the city of Casablanca during World War II. Although it was not filmed here, you can visit this fun replica of the cafe backdrop from the movie. Great for Instagram!
Get lost in the Old Medina
Wander through the narrow alleys and bustling souks of Casablanca's Old Medina, where you'll find traditional shops selling spices, fabric, and handmade gifts. It also has a historic Jewish Quarter, known as the Mellah. Wander through its narrow streets, visit synagogues, and discover traditional Jewish shops and markets. You'll find endless photo opportunities exploring the narrow alleys.
When is the best time to visit Casablanca
Plan your trip to Morocco in the spring or autumn for the most comfortable weather. The average temperature is around 77° F (25° C) and the days are bright and sunny. As you make the trip from Fez to Casablanca, you’ll feel a drop in temperature. Casablanca is right on the ocean, so it will be breezier and cooler than Fez, which is about 200 miles (300 km) inland.

Why people love Daytrip
- 1,181 travelers took this route with us
“I used this service for a transfer from Split in Croatia to Perast Montenegro. My experience was exceptional. My driver Bojan was helpful, informative and ensured my journey was comfortable and enjoyable. I highly recommend the service.”
“We were extremely satisfied with the quality of service we received from Day Trip. We had two Day Trip rides on August 31 from Athens to Lefkada and September 7 from Lefkada back to Athens. Both trips included stops at scenic sites in Greece. Both drivers were excellent and accommodating. However, we’d especially like to recognize Panos Peppas, who was our driver from Lefkada to Athens. Panos was incredibly nice & pleasant and delivered outstanding customer service, which included handling all of luggage, providing us with cold waters throughout the trip, providing us protein bars, providing us with printed materials on the Corinth Canal (one of scenic stops), looking up and providing us with terminal & gate info for our flight back home and providing us with a recipe for tzatziki.”
Best transport company anywhere
“We absolutely love this company and have used it many times over the years to get from A to B without the hassle of hiring a car ourselves. Excellent drivers every time. Efficient and professional. It’s worth every penny and we can honestly recommend Day Trip to everyone. It’s 5 star rating is well deserved.”
Excellent experience in traveling
“We traveled from Nuremberg to Munich in a beautiful Audi. Driver picked us at our hotel at the exact time requested. Got us to Munich in plenty of time for our next tour. Driver made sure we were comfortable”
Reasonably Priced and Safe Transportation
“Gonzalo from daytrip was our driver and he was absolutely amazing. He went over and beyond trying to locate us as our service wasn't so good on our phones. He patiently awaited our arrival to the lobby so he could take us from Tulum Dreams Resort to our other hotel in cancun an hour and a half away near the airport prior to our departure flight home. He was polite, respectful and kind. Made sure we were comfortable during our long ride. Fast and to the point. I recommend this company as finding a one way ride from Tulum to Cancun isn't easy or cheap and this company provides a great service for a great price. I will definitely be using them again whenever I'm in the Cancun/Tulum area. Thank you DayTrip and Gonzola.”
“We were picked up by Marianna to drive us from Heraklion to Chania. The weather was terrible & due to this Marianna arrived a few minutes late. She contacted me to advise of this. Marianna lives in Chana and she made our trip very interesting by informing us of local things to do and see in Chania. Marianna is a safe driver and we all felt comfortable with the speed she drove at and how good her driving was in heavy rain. She is a lovely person with fluent English. We highly recommend Daytrips and if you are in Heraklion or Chania please make sure you ask for Marianna.”
“Used the service to go from Luxor to Hurghada, Egypt. Ahmed H was our driver and he was perfect. The car was new, clean, he had water and snacks for us, and accommodated our stops. Great service from him and would recommend it.”
Comfortable and Safe Rides in Mexico
“Used Daytrip for two rides in Mexico, which were both great. So comfortable, and we arrived at each of our destinations at a great time. Both were incredible drivers, and we felt so safe. One of our drivers, Miguel, also played the best music! Will definitely use Daytrip on our next trip to Mexico.”
Great way to travel and see some sights on the way
“We did not know what to expect with this trip and booked from Australia. We were initially looking for an easy way to travel from Granada to Malaga. We decided not to waste the opportunity to see something additional on our way. Miguel certainly exceeded our expectations. His English was excellent (unfortunately we speak very little Spanish), and he was very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the regions as we passed through and also discussing some of the local ways. Miguel took us to Antequera as planned and ensured we were able to easily get our tickets to the attractions without any sense of rushing us. We were picked up and dropped off punctually and really enjoyed our trip. Hopefully we will return to Spain and we can use this service again sometime.”
Reliable transportation from Casablanca to Fes, Morocco
“We needed to get from Casablanca to Fes and considered the train, taxi and private transport. We were staying at the Four Seasons and the service they called for a private car was very expensive. I looked on tripadvisor and found Daytrip. Daytrip was half the cost of the other estimate. The young men who picked us up were polite and very professional. Since the service was so inexpensive we added a stop in Rabat for some sightseeing. Daytrip will be my first call for future travel needs.”
