The Tempio Voltiano is a small neoclassical museum on Como's lakefront dedicated to Alessandro Volta, the Como-born physicist who invented the electric battery in 1800. Inside, you'll find original scientific instruments, personal items, and reproductions of his early voltaic piles. The building itself, completed in 1928, is a striking white temple-like structure that anchors the western end of the promenade.
Late spring and early fall offer the most pleasant weather, with warm, sunny days and the lake at its most photogenic. Summer is the busiest period and can feel crowded around the lakefront, while winter brings quieter streets and often dramatic light over the surrounding mountains.
