So, so happy I stumbled upon this website to book two private transports while visiting Lima, Peru. They were both one-way trips approximately 3 hours in length. Great communication as soon as everything was booked via email and I then downloaded their app. I had a few issues with the app and the customer service was awesome trying to assist me in getting it corrected. Honestly impressive customer service which gave you a positive feeling that you made the right choice. Both drivers were right on time - No issues whatsoever! Can't say enough about the service and ease of everything when travelling so far away. Great job to the daytrip team! Would strongly recommend.
Pyeongchang sits approximately 160 km (99 miles) east of Seoul. By private transfer, the drive typically takes around 2 to 2.5 hours depending on traffic and your specific destination within the county. That makes it a comfortable day trip â enough time to see multiple highlights without feeling rushed on the road.
Plan for a full day. The drive from Seoul alone takes roughly 2 to 2.5 hours each way, so a 10 to 12 hour day gives you enough time to visit two or three attractions comfortably. Woljeongsa Temple and its fir forest trail pair well together as a morning stop, with Samyang Ranch or Alpensia filling the afternoon. Trying to rush through everything in half a day will leave you feeling short-changed given the distances involved.
Not at all. Winter is popular for skiing at Yongpyong and Alpensia, but Pyeongchang is genuinely appealing year-round. Spring brings wildflowers and fresh greenery to Odaesan National Park. Summer offers cooler temperatures than Seoul and ideal conditions for hiking and exploring the ranch. Autumn turns the mountain forests into vivid reds and oranges, making Woljeongsa Temple particularly striking. The Olympic venues and cultural sites are open regardless of season.
A well-rounded day trip can cover several distinct experiences. Woljeongsa Temple in Odaesan National Park is one of Korea's most atmospheric Buddhist sites, with a 1,000-year-old fir forest trail leading up to it. Samyang Ranch, Asia's largest highland pasture, offers panoramic grassland and mountain scenery. For Olympic history, Alpensia Resort's ski jump tower is now a public observatory you can access by monorail. If you visit in winter, Yongpyong Resort offers alpine skiing and gondola rides with views across Balwangsan Mountain.
Pyeongchang is a highland county in South Korea's Gangwon Province, best known as the host of the 2018 Winter Olympics. But its appeal goes well beyond sports. You'll find ancient Buddhist temples tucked inside fir forests, Asia's largest highland ranch with sweeping mountain views, and the kind of clean mountain air that Seoul simply cannot offer. It's a place where natural scenery and cultural history sit side by side, making it one of the most rewarding escapes from the capital.
Pyeongchang's major attractions are spread across a wide area â the temple, the ranch, the ski resorts, and the Olympic venues are not clustered together. Public transport connects Seoul to the county, but moving between individual sites without a car is slow and requires planning around infrequent local buses. A private transfer puts a professional driver at your disposal for the full day, so you can move between Woljeongsa, Samyang Ranch, and Alpensia on your own schedule rather than around a bus timetable.
