The best time to visit Zagreb is during spring from April to June or fall from September to October when weather is mild and pleasant. Summer can be incredibly hot but features festivals and events.

Croatia uses the euro as its official currency since January 2023. ATMs are readily available across the city. Many establishments accept Apple Pay and other digital payment methods, though carrying some cash is useful for smaller vendors.

Croatian is the official language spoken in Zagreb and throughout Croatia. English is widely spoken in Zagreb, particularly among younger people and in tourist areas, hotels, and restaurants. Zagreb's cosmopolitan atmosphere means many residents speak multiple languages.

Zagreb is known for its charming historic Upper Town with cobblestone streets and medieval architecture, including the colorful tiled roof of St. Mark's Church. The Museum of Broken Relationships offers a unique, emotionally engaging experience. Zagreb boasts an exceptional cafe culture with numerous outdoor terraces. The city features over 50 museums and 100 art galleries, including the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Zagreb houses Croatia's finest museums, including the Museum of Broken Relationships, the Croatian Museum of Naive Art, the Zagreb City Museum, the Technical Museum, and the Croatian Natural History Museum.

Zagreb is extremely walkable with most attractions concentrated in the compact city center. The historic Upper Town connects to Lower Town via the world's shortest funicular, though stairs are also available.

Mount Medvednica, Zagreb's local mountain, offers hiking trails and scenic views accessible via cable car from the city. In winter, small ski resorts like Sljeme provide convenient skiing near downtown. The Sava River features walking and cycling paths perfect for recreation.
