So, so happy I stumbled upon this website to book two private transports while visiting Lima, Peru. They were both one-way trips approximately 3 hours in length. Great communication as soon as everything was booked via email and I then downloaded their app. I had a few issues with the app and the customer service was awesome trying to assist me in getting it corrected. Honestly impressive customer service which gave you a positive feeling that you made the right choice. Both drivers were right on time - No issues whatsoever! Can't say enough about the service and ease of everything when travelling so far away. Great job to the daytrip team! Would strongly recommend.
Yes, and it's one of the best routes for doing so. The road north from Seminyak or Denpasar passes near Tanah Lot temple and the royal temple of Taman Ayun, both of which are natural add-ons without major detours. Heading further north from Bedugul, you can continue to Lovina or the twin lakes of Buyan and Tamblingan. Daytrip lets you request these stops in advance so your driver plans the route around them.
The mountain road to Bedugul involves winding climbs with sharp turns and unpredictable traffic, which can be stressful or outright dangerous for unfamiliar riders. With Daytrip, you travel in a private vehicle with a professional local driver who knows the route well and can point out stops along the way. You can request sightseeing stops en route β such as Tanah Lot or the Mengwi Royal Temple β turning a single transfer into a fuller day rather than just a drive.
From Seminyak or Kuta, the drive to Bedugul covers roughly 60 km (37 miles) and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. From Ubud, it's closer to 40 km (25 miles) and around 1 to 1.5 hours. Plan for at least 4 to 5 hours on the ground to visit the temple, stroll Bali Botanic Garden, and take in the lakeside scenery without feeling rushed.
Bedugul works well for a range of traveler types. Bali Botanic Garden is flat and walkable, with open lawns and a pleasant treetop walkway that appeals to kids and anyone who simply wants to move at a relaxed pace. The lakeside area around Pura Ulun Danu Bratan has cafes, markets, and scenic viewpoints that don't require any specific interest in temples or trekking. The cooler highland air also makes it a natural draw for travelers who find Bali's coastal humidity difficult.
The centerpiece is Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, a multi-tiered Hindu temple set on the edge of Lake Bratan that's especially atmospheric in the early morning mist. Bali Botanic Garden is the largest botanical collection in Indonesia and worth at least an hour of exploration. The Bedugul area also sits close to Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan β twin crater lakes surrounded by forest that are far less visited and genuinely serene.
Bedugul is one of Bali's most visually striking highland areas, sitting around 1,500 meters above sea level in the island's mountainous interior. The region is defined by crater lakes, lush botanical gardens, and the iconic Pura Ulun Danu Bratan temple β a water temple that appears to float on Lake Bratan and is one of the most photographed sites in all of Indonesia. The cool, misty climate feels like a complete contrast to the coastal heat, making it a refreshing escape that stands apart from Bali's beach-heavy offerings.
