Know more about traveling from Nosara

Nosara is a great destination for families. Playa Guiones offers calm morning conditions that are well-suited for beginner surfers of all ages. Wildlife sanctuaries run family-friendly tours, and ziplining is open to children from age five. The region's Blue Zone lifestyle means fresh, healthy food is easy to find. Nosara's beach scene is relaxed and welcoming, though parents should always supervise children near the water.

Nosara is a spread-out community, so having access to a vehicle makes exploring much easier. Many roads are unpaved and can become rough during the rainy season, making a 4WD vehicle a practical choice. Within Playa Guiones, tuk-tuk taxis are a fun and convenient way to get around without a car. The town of Bocas de Nosara sits roughly 5 kilometers (3 miles) inland from the main beach area.

Nosara is generally considered safe for visitors and has a welcoming, community-oriented atmosphere. Standard travel precautions apply: keep an eye on your belongings, avoid leaving valuables on the beach, and stay aware of your surroundings at night. The nearest hospital is in Nicoya, about an hour and a quarter away, so travel insurance with medical coverage is strongly recommended.

Nosara is best known for surfing at Playa Guiones, yoga retreats, and wildlife encounters. Popular activities include kayaking through mangroves, ziplining, horseback riding, hiking, and visiting wildlife sanctuaries such as SIBU Sanctuary and International Animal Rescue Costa Rica, where injured howler monkeys are rehabilitated. The Ostional Wildlife Refuge offers rare chances to see olive ridley sea turtle nesting between July and December.

The official currency of Costa Rica is the Costa Rican colon (CRC). U.S. dollars are widely accepted in Nosara, though you will typically get a better rate paying in colones. ATMs are available in Playa Guiones and around town, but they can be unreliable, so it's a good idea to carry some cash. Most established restaurants and hotels accept major credit cards.

Spanish is the official language of Costa Rica. In Nosara, English is widely spoken due to the large expat community and established international visitor scene. Most restaurant menus are available in both English and Spanish, and hotel staff typically communicate well in English. Downloading a translation app is still handy for exploring smaller local spots or markets.

Costa Rican food is fresh, hearty, and deeply local. Look out for a classic "casado," a traditional plate of rice, beans, plantains, salad, and a protein. Eating at a "soda" (a small local diner) is a beloved rite of passage for any visitor. Nosara is also celebrated for its health-conscious food scene, with fresh juices, acai bowls, and excellent seafood widely available throughout town.

Nosara has two main seasons. The dry season runs from December through April, bringing sunny skies and calmer conditions, making it the most popular time to visit. The rainy or "green" season runs from May through November, with afternoon showers but lush scenery, fewer crowds, and great surf. Surfers often prefer the green season for its consistent waves.

Amazing driver experience

Our driver, Ibrahim, was wonderful. He drove us from Amman airport to Petra. Our flight was one hour early and he was already waiting for us when we got to the exit of the airport. He was helpful, professional and friendly. We would definitely love to have Ibrahim again and highly recommend him!

Awesome experience! Highly recommend!

So, so happy I stumbled upon this website to book two private transports while visiting Lima, Peru. They were both one-way trips approximately 3 hours in length. Great communication as soon as everything was booked via email and I then downloaded their app. I had a few issues with the app and the customer service was awesome trying to assist me in getting it corrected. Honestly impressive customer service which gave you a positive feeling that you made the right choice. Both drivers were right on time - No issues whatsoever! Can't say enough about the service and ease of everything when travelling so far away. Great job to the daytrip team! Would strongly recommend.

Touring through Tuscany

We had the same driver for our 2 day trip in tuscany. I was able to develop my own itinerary so I could go where we wanted and see the things we wanted. Marco was fantastic!! He opened doors for us and made sure my mother was able to get in and out of the car easily. He had water in the car for us. He was early picking us up both days and brought us as close to the towns as he could. He told us which way to go to enter the cities and then sent me his location so we knew how to get back to him after traveling the streets. Im so happy I decided to get a driver to take us through Tuscany. It took all the worry and anxiety of driving through this region I had never been to and didnt know where to park. Money well spent!

It was a fantastic trip.

We were extremely satisfied with the quality of service we received from Day Trip. We had two Day Trip rides on August 31 from Athens to Lefkada and September 7 from Lefkada back to Athens. Both trips included stops at scenic sites in Greece. Both drivers were excellent and accommodating. However, we’d especially like to recognize Panos Peppas, who was our driver from Lefkada to Athens. Panos was incredibly nice & pleasant and delivered outstanding customer service, which included handling all of luggage, providing us with cold waters throughout the trip, providing us protein bars, providing us with printed materials on the Corinth Canal (one of scenic stops), looking up and providing us with terminal & gate info for our flight back home and providing us with a recipe for tzatziki.

Best transport company anywhere

We absolutely love this company and have used it many times over the years to get from A to B without the hassle of hiring a car ourselves. Excellent drivers every time. Efficient and professional. It’s worth every penny and we can honestly recommend Day Trip to everyone. It’s 5 star rating is well deserved.

Reasonably Priced and Safe Transportation

Gonzalo from daytrip was our driver and he was absolutely amazing. He went over and beyond trying to locate us as our service wasn't so good on our phones. He patiently awaited our arrival to the lobby so he could take us from Tulum Dreams Resort to our other hotel in cancun an hour and a half away near the airport prior to our departure flight home. He was polite, respectful and kind. Made sure we were comfortable during our long ride. Fast and to the point. I recommend this company as finding a one way ride from Tulum to Cancun isn't easy or cheap and this company provides a great service for a great price. I will definitely be using them again whenever I'm in the Cancun/Tulum area. Thank you DayTrip and Gonzola.

Daytrip never disappoints

We were picked up by Marianna to drive us from Heraklion to Chania. The weather was terrible & due to this Marianna arrived a few minutes late. She contacted me to advise of this. Marianna lives in Chana and she made our trip very interesting by informing us of local things to do and see in Chania. Marianna is a safe driver and we all felt comfortable with the speed she drove at and how good her driving was in heavy rain. She is a lovely person with fluent English. We highly recommend Daytrips and if you are in Heraklion or Chania please make sure you ask for Marianna.

Great driver in Egypt

Used the service to go from Luxor to Hurghada, Egypt. Ahmed H was our driver and he was perfect. The car was new, clean, he had water and snacks for us, and accommodated our stops. Great service from him and would recommend it.

Comfortable and Safe Rides in Mexico

Used Daytrip for two rides in Mexico, which were both great. So comfortable, and we arrived at each of our destinations at a great time. Both were incredible drivers, and we felt so safe. One of our drivers, Miguel, also played the best music! Will definitely use Daytrip on our next trip to Mexico.

Great way to travel and see some sights on the way

We did not know what to expect with this trip and booked from Australia. We were initially looking for an easy way to travel from Granada to Malaga. We decided not to waste the opportunity to see something additional on our way. Miguel certainly exceeded our expectations. His English was excellent (unfortunately we speak very little Spanish), and he was very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the regions as we passed through and also discussing some of the local ways. Miguel took us to Antequera as planned and ensured we were able to easily get our tickets to the attractions without any sense of rushing us. We were picked up and dropped off punctually and really enjoyed our trip. Hopefully we will return to Spain and we can use this service again sometime.
