Visitors must not climb on, touch, lean against, or sit on any of the structures. Smoking, littering, and bringing in plastic water bottles are all prohibited. Wildlife (including the many iguanas roaming the site) should not be fed or disturbed. Swimming at the beach below the ruins is permitted. Buying tickets only at the official gate is strongly advised.

The site is partially accessible. Many of the main pathways are flat enough for wheelchairs and strollers, and accessible parking spaces are available near the entrance. However, some areas have uneven terrain or steps. A small train (trenecito) runs between the parking area and the entrance, which is helpful for those who prefer not to walk.

El Castillo, the site's tallest pyramid, once served as a lighthouse for Mayan seafarers and offers sweeping views of the Caribbean. The Temple of the Frescoes features some of the best-preserved murals on site. The Temple of the Descending God displays a unique carved figure found throughout the ruins.

Mexico uses the Mexican peso (MXN). Cash is essential at the Tulum ruins, while the entrance fee can now be paid for with credit card, other vendors may prefer cash. There are no ATMs inside the site, so withdraw cash beforehand.

Tulum was one of the last cities built and occupied by the Maya, reaching its peak between the 13th and 15th centuries. It served as a major trading port, exporting jade and obsidian, and remained inhabited for about 70 years after Spanish contact. The site's walled layout and coastal position made it both a commercial and defensive hub in its time.

You will receive the vehicle that best fits the number of travelers in your group, ranging from a sedan to a van for groups of up to 7. Depending where you travel, you can book anything from a sedan comparable to a Toyota Corolla to a Mercedes V-Class to a Classic Cuban Car. While the exact model may vary, we always ensure that the vehicle provided meets your needs in terms of safety, reliability, and comfort. You may be upgraded to a larger vehicle class free of charge depending on availability. Since our largest vehicle seats 7, for groups larger a combination of vehicles will be used.
