Travel time depends on your starting point within Corsica. From Ajaccio, the regional capital and main gateway, Propriano is roughly 75 km (47 miles) and takes around 1 to 1.5 hours by road through scenic coastal and mountain terrain. Public transport connections are infrequent and require careful timing, making them impractical for a day trip where you want flexibility. A private transfer is the most efficient option — your driver picks you up from your accommodation or hotel, handles the route, and you arrive directly in Propriano without transfers, timetables, or the stress of navigating unfamiliar mountain roads.
A full day is the right amount of time if you want to combine the town itself with at least one or two surrounding attractions. Filitosa alone is worth allocating two to three hours including travel and exploration. Add a beach stop and a waterfront lunch and you have a well-rounded day without feeling rushed. If you are solely interested in the beach and marina atmosphere, half a day is workable, but most travelers find the surrounding region rewarding enough to justify staying until late afternoon before heading back.

The beaches along the Gulf of Valinco are generally calm, shallow near the shore, and less exposed than the island's more rugged Atlantic-facing coastlines.
