Main attractions
- Switzerland's adventure capital sits on a narrow neck of land between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, with the Eiger, Mƶnch, and Jungfrau ā three of the most iconic peaks in the Alps ā rising directly above the town to the south; the view from the Hƶhematte park lawn toward the Jungfrau massif is one of the great urban alpine panoramas in Europe
- The Jungfraujoch ā the highest railway station in Europe at 3,454 meters, reached by a rack railway that tunnels through the Eiger and Mƶnch ā is accessible directly from Interlaken and delivers a glacier plateau, ice palace, and 360-degree Alpine panorama above the cloud line on clear days
- Lake Thun and Lake Brienz frame the town on either side ā both are navigable by historic paddle steamer, the turquoise glacial water and castle-dotted shores of Lake Thun in particular offering some of the most scenic boat travel in Switzerland
Things to do
- Take the Jungfraujoch railway from Interlaken Ost ā the full round trip takes approximately five hours and is the single most rewarding excursion available from the town; book tickets well in advance and check the summit webcam before departing, as cloud cover can obscure the views entirely
- Paragliding tandem flights launch from the slopes above town and land on the Hƶhematte meadow in the center of Interlaken ā one of the most accessible and scenically dramatic tandem paragliding experiences in the Alps, requiring no experience
- A lake cruise on either Thun or Brienz ā the Thunersee boats call at Spiez, Oberhofen, and Thun castle; the Brienzersee route passes beneath the Giessbach waterfall and connects to the open-air museum at Ballenberg
What to eat
- Rösti (Swiss-style hash brown, served as a side or base for eggs, cheese, or meat) and Zürcher Geschnetzeltes (veal in cream and white wine sauce) at any of the traditional Swiss restaurants along Höheweg, the town's main boulevard; El Azteca on the main street is a reliable and popular option for something lighter

Main attractions
- A glacially carved valley of near-vertical limestone walls rising 300 meters from the valley floor ā 72 waterfalls pour from the cliffs in a single valley, making Lauterbrunnen one of the most dramatic natural landscapes in the Alps, and the valley is said to have inspired Tolkien's vision of Rivendell
- Staubbach Falls ā a 297-meter free-falling waterfall dropping directly from the cliff above the village, the seventh highest in Switzerland ā is visible from the valley floor and accessible via a short path cut into the cliff face behind the fall itself; walking behind the curtain of water is the defining experience of the village
- The valley floor between Lauterbrunnen village and Stechelberg at the head of the valley is a flat, car-free walking route past traditional chalets, grazing meadows, and a succession of waterfall cascades emerging from the cliff walls ā one of the most beautiful valley walks in Switzerland
Things to do
- Walk or cycle the valley floor path from Lauterbrunnen village toward Stechelberg ā the full route is approximately 6km one way and passes Trümmelbach Falls, the only waterfalls in Europe accessible by underground funicular lift inside a mountain
- Trümmelbach Falls ā ten glacier waterfalls inside the cliff face, carrying the meltwater of the Eiger, Mƶnch, and Jungfrau glaciers; the tunneled walkway through the mountain gives access to cascades of extraordinary force and sound that no open-air waterfall can replicate
- Take the cable car from Stechelberg at the valley head to Gimmelwald and Mürren ā car-free mountain villages perched on the cliff above the valley with unobstructed views across to the Jungfrau massif and a level of Alpine quietness that even Lauterbrunnen below cannot match
What to eat
- The valley has a handful of traditional Swiss restaurants in the village ā the Hotel Staubbach restaurant and the Airtime cafĆ© near the station are reliable for rƶsti, cheese fondue, and hot drinks; for a more memorable setting, the restaurants in Mürren above the valley serve the same food with an unrestricted Jungfrau panorama
Daytrip Ć© amado em todo o mundo. Aqui estĆ” o porquĆŖ.
