Ronda is famous for the Puente Nuevo, an 18th-century bridge spanning the 328-foot-deep El Tajo gorge that divides the old and new towns. Ronda was under Muslim rule from 712 to 1485, leaving significant architectural heritage. The Arab Baths are among Spain's best-preserved medieval bathhouses, featuring distinctive star-shaped roof vents. The Almocabar Gate and sections of the old city walls date from the Islamic period. Many street layouts and building foundations in the old quarter reflect Moorish urban planning and design principles.
