Portinatx is 29 km (18 miles) from Ibiza Town, a drive of approximately 35 to 45 minutes by road depending on traffic and the route north through the island's interior. From Ibiza Airport the distance is around 35 km (22 miles), with a transfer time of roughly 40 to 50 minutes. The road passes through the rural heart of the island, so the drive itself gives you a genuine sense of how different northern Ibiza looks from the resort-heavy south.
Three to four hours covers the beach, a swim, and a walk to the lighthouse at a relaxed pace. If you want to add the Cova de Can Marca cave tour, plan for closer to five hours total — the cave is located a short drive from Portinatx toward Port de Sant Miquel, so it works well as a stop on the way there or back. The village itself is compact and unhurried, which is precisely the appeal: there is no pressure to rush between sights.
Public buses connect Ibiza Town to Portinatx but run infrequently — typically every few hours — which makes timing a day trip awkward and limits your flexibility once you are there.
